Introduction

Space Summer School is a dynamic annual program tailored for school and college students, designed to ignite curiosity and passion for space science, technology, and its real-world applications. Through an engaging blend of hands-on activities, interactive learning sessions, and collaborative team projects, students explore exciting domains such as Astronomy & Astrophysics, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Aviation, Rocketry, and Satellite Technology. The program offers young minds a unique opportunity to delve into the wonders of the universe while developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. By immersing participants in the rapidly evolving world of space exploration, Space Summer School aims to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators who will shape the future of space.

Tenth Space Summer School 2026

The Tenth Space Summer School 2026, powered by the Space Education Research Lab (SERL) under the National Center of GIS & Space Applications (NCGSA), Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad, is designed as an exciting five-day learning journey from July 13–17, 2026, under the theme “A Journey from Curiosity to Cosmos.”
The school will provide young learners with an inspiring platform to think creatively, work scientifically, and experience the practical side of space education. More than a summer school, it serves as a launchpad for future explorers, innovators, engineers, and storytellers of space, while also contributing to key UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Exploration Tracks & Hands-on Highlights

1. Astronomy & Astrophysics: Explore the Cosmos
Discover the wonders of the universe through telescope principles & design, navigation instruments and solar observation.
2.Earth & Atmosphere: Observe Our Planet
Explore Earth from space using satellite imagery and remote sensing tools for real-world applications.
3. Aviation: Master the Skies
Learn the science of flight through glider making and RC plane design, build & flight.
4. Rocketry: Launch Beyond Limits
Experience the fundamentals of rocket science through aqua rockets and liquid-fueled rocket concepts.
5. Satellite Technology: Build Space Systems
Design, develop & launch CanSat.

Our Legacy

The Space Summer School has been inspiring young minds since 2017, hosted annually at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad. Designed for students from Grade 6 to 12, the program offers a unique blend of space science, technology, and hands-on learning experiences. Since 2017, Space Summer School has engaged over 800 students from 50+ educational institutions, offering 120+ hours of interactive sessions, guided by 30+ subject experts, and delivering 160+ hours of hands-on STEM activities, providing students with immersive learning experiences in space science, technology, and its real-world applications.
