180 Seconds Space Film Festival

National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA) has a mandate for space awareness, education and outreach. In continuation of these endeavors, 180 seconds Space Film Festival (180SSFF) has been planned. NCGSA invites the space enthusiasts and visual creators from all over the world to share their creative work of 180 seconds maximum duration, in the form of animation / fiction / documentary related to the theme of “Space Science, Technology and its Applications”.

Geological Remote Sensing Workshop

NCGSA is organizing an International Workshop on Geological Remote Sensing & Applications from June 5-6, 2024 at Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan, in collaboration with one of the constituent labs of NCGSA, GIS & Space Applications in Geosciences Lab, NCEG, University of Peshawar. This 2 days course includes series of presentations, case studies, and hands-on exercises that discuss the state-of-the-art methods, sensors, and processing steps for various applications. By the end of the course, the participant will be able to identify opportunities for remote sensing technology in the exploration & mining value chain. National & International subject matter experts will be invited as Resource persons for the workshop.

RSGIS Summer School

NCGSA is planning to conduct a Summer School on Remote Sensing & GIS from June 19 – 23, 2023 at Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan, in collaboration with Deqing Association for Geospatial Information Professionals (DQGIP), China and the belt and road international geospatial information training center, China. The 5-day school will be featuring Interactive Lectures & hands on Workshops covering the fundamentals of Geographic Information Science, Remote Sensing & its Applications for socio-economic development and to achieve UN sustainable development goals (UN SDGs). National & International subject matter experts will be invited as Resource persons for the school.

Space Destination School

Space Destination Schools is a grassroots outreach initiative of the Space Education and Research Lab (SERL) at the National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA), designed to bring space education to remote and underserved regions of Pakistan. Through short-term, immersive learning camps hosted at selected schools and open to neighboring institutions, the program engages students in interactive lectures, hands-on workshops, and creative activities across Astronomy, Earth Science, Aviation, Rocketry, and Satellite Technology. By transforming schools into vibrant space learning hubs, the initiative has reached over 2,000 students from 150+ schools, igniting curiosity and inspiring the next generation of space thinkers and innovators.

Student Satellite Outreach

Student Satellite Development Outreach is an innovative program by the Space Education and Research Lab (SERL) at the National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA), designed to provide students with hands-on experience in satellite systems engineering. Centered on CanSat and CubeSat mission design, the program takes learners through the complete satellite development lifecycle,from mission planning and subsystem integration to testing and launch. Through immersive workshops, expert mentoring, and national challenges, students gain practical skills in embedded systems, hardware design, and real-time data acquisition. Reaching over 1,500 students across Pakistan, the program fosters technical competence, teamwork, and a passion for space innovation.
