Introduction
Space Education Research Lab of National Center of GIS and Space Applications, in collaboration with Office of Astronomy for Education, International Astronomical Union, is organizing Teachers Training Workshop 2023, from September 7-9, 2023 at IST, Islamabad.
The 3-day workshop is a transformative event aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of primary and secondary school science educators. This workshop is a unique opportunity for science teachers to delve into the captivating realm of Space Education, equipping them with innovative teaching methodologies and engaging resources for school and college students.
The primary goal of the workshop is to empower educators with the tools they need to ignite curiosity and enthusiasm for space exploration within their students. By merging theoretical understanding with practical pedagogy techniques, we aim to:
- Foster a deeper comprehension of Space Science concepts among science teachers.
- Enable educators to effectively convey complex space subjects to students of varying age groups.
- Inspire a sense of wonder and curiosity about space technology and the cosmos among young learners.
- Establish a network of dedicated teachers who are committed to elevating science education in Pakistan.
Workshop Dates and Venue
Date: September 7-9, 2023
Venue: Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad
Timings: 0900 – 1600 hours (Thursday and Saturday),
1430 – 2100 hours (Friday)

Selection Process
Application Submission: Interested teachers are invited to submit their applications before August 11, 2023. Application includes a brief motivation statement that highlights their dedication to science education and their interest in space science and astronomy.
Evaluation: Applications will be carefully evaluated based on their relevance to the workshop’s goals, the applicant’s experience in teaching science or physics subjects and their motivation statement.
Notification: Selected participants will be notified via email, and they will be provided with detailed instructions on the next steps, including the registration process.
Registration and Fees
The registration fee for the Teachers Training Workshop 2023 is set at 2000/- PKR. This fee covers essential components that enhance your workshop experience:

Workshop Materials: Access to all workshop materials, resources, and tools needed for interactive and hands-on learning.
Note: the registration fee does not cover transportation and lodging expenses, which will be the responsibility of the participants.
